Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. At ELAWS.US ("ELAWS.US"), we have a couple of fundamental principles:

  • We don't share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop, utilize and enhance our products and services, share with others whose services you subscribe to in connection with the Service or protect our rights.
  • We don't store personal information on our servers or our third party vendors or hosting services unless required for the ongoing operation of one of our services.

The Gist

ELAW.US makes available services including our websites (collectively, the "Sites"), our API, and any other software, sites, and services offered by ELAWS.US in connection to any of those (taken together, the "Service"). Its ELAWS.US's policy to respect your privacy on any information we collect while operating our Sites.

ELAWS.US collects certain non-personally identifying information ("non PII") about you and your business as you use our Service. We may use this data to better understand our users and improve our services. We can also use it as reference data for our services and publish this data, but the data will be about a large group of users, not individuals (i.e. aggregate and anonymized). We may also collect certain personally identifying information ("PII") about you and your use of the Service and the Sites which may be published and used as set forth in this Privacy Policy.

If you give us PII, we won't do anything intentionally harmful with it.

We can also use cookies (see below), but you can choose not to store these.

That's the basic idea, but you must read through the entire Privacy Policy below and agree with all the details before you access or use the Service or any of the Sites (whether or not you have created an account).

Visitors and Users

ELAWS.US collects non PII of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. ELAWS.US's purpose in collecting non PII is to better understand how ELAWS.US's visitors use the Service and the Sites. From time to time, ELAWS.US may release non PII in the aggregate and anonymized, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of the Service and the Sites.

ELAWS.US also collects potentially PII like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. ELAWS.US does not disclose such information, other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses PII, as described below. We may also collect and use IP addresses to block users who violate our Terms of Use.

Gathering of PII

Certain visitors to the Sites and users of the Service choose to interact with ELAWS.US in ways that require ELAWS.US to gather PII. The amount and type of information that ELAWS.US gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. ELAWS.US collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of their interaction with ELAWS.US. ELAWS.US does not disclose PII other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply PII, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Service-related activities.

Additionally, some interactions, such as posting a comment, may ask for optional personal information. For instance, when posting a comment, you may provide a website that will be displayed along with a user's name when the comment is displayed. Supplying such PII is completely optional.

Aggregated Statistics

ELAWS.US may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its Sites and users of the Service. For instance, ELAWS.US may monitor the most popular parts of the ELAWS.US Sites. ELAWS.US may display this information in the aggregate publicly or provide it to others.

Protection of Certain PII

ELAWS.US discloses potentially PII and PII only to those of its employees, contractors, affiliated organizations and third party vendors and hosting services that need to know the information to process it on ELAWS.US' behalf or to provide Services, and that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors, affiliated organizations and third party vendors and hosting services may be located outside of your home country; by accessing or using the Service, you irrevocably consent to the transfer of such information to them. ELAWS.US will not rent or sell potentially PII and PII to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors affiliated organizations and third party vendors and hosting services, as described above, ELAWS.US discloses potential PII and PII only when reasonably required to do so by law, or when ELAWS.US believes that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of ELAWS.US, third parties or the public at large. If you are a registered user of Services and have supplied your email address, ELAWS.US may send you emails to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or keep you up to date with what's going on with ELAWS.US and our Services. If you send us a request via one of our feedback mechanisms, we reserve the right to publish it to help clarify or respond to your request or help us support other users. ELAWS.US takes measures reasonably designed to protect against unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially PII and PII, but there is no guarantee of confidentiality.

Cookies

A "cookie" is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor's computer, and that the visitor's browser provides to the service each time the visitor returns. ELAWS.US uses cookies to help ELAWS.US identify and track visitors, their usage of ELAWS.US Services, and their Services access preferences. ELAWS.US visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using ELAWS.US's websites, with the drawback that certain features of ELAWS.US's Sites may not function properly without cookies.

Business Transfers

If ELAWS.US, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that ELAWS.US goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of ELAWS.US may continue to use your PII as set forth in this Privacy Policy.

Data Storage

ELAWS.US uses third party vendors and hosting services to provide the necessary hardware, software, data, networking, storage, and related technology required to run the Services. You understand that although you retain full rights to your data, it may be stored on third party storage and transmitted through third party networks.

Privacy Policy Changes

ELAWS.US may change its Privacy Policy at any time and from time to time, and in ELAWS.US's sole and absolute discretion. ELAWS.US encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. Your continued access or use of the Service or this Site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of changes.
